Auto-update desktop clients
Put the latest client installers in a specific directory on the server and configure update.conf. All clients then update automatically the next time they sign in.
1. Download the latest client
Go to the client download page: https://helpchat.com/download/. Download the client .zip packages for the architectures you need and extract them.
2. Place the installer files
Put the extracted installer files in this directory on the server, overwriting files with the same name:
text
Windows Server:
C:\HelpChat Server 13\public\updater\
Linux Server:
/opt/helpchat_server/public/updater/ 3. Configure update.conf
Edit the update.conf file in the same directory. Update the version number, and enter the actual installer file name after the line for each architecture:
public/updater/update.conf
version: 13.1.6
win_x86: HelpChat_Setup_x86_13.1.6.exe
win_x64: HelpChat_Setup_x64_13.1.6.exe
win_arm64:
deb_x64:
deb_arm64:
dmg_x64:
dmg_arm64: 4. Architecture fields
| Field | Platform | Installer format |

| win_x64 | Windows 64-bit | .exe |
| win_arm64 | Windows ARM64 | .exe |

Info
Fill in only the architectures you provide and leave the others empty. When a client signs in, it matches its own system architecture and updates.
5. When it takes effect
You do not need to restart the server after configuring this. The next time each client signs in, it detects the new version and starts the update.
